Spring is finally here, and it’s time to freshen up and start anew! Giving your home a good deep down spring cleaning is a great way to rid your home of winter dust and allergins. If you’re lucky enough to hire a cleaning service, they will be able to get your house in tip-top shape in no time. If you’re like most of us, the chore of spring cleaning is up to ourselves and any helpers we can recruit.

To help get you started, here is a complete spring cleaning checklist for you to follow. Whether you take on the entire list at once or choose one room or a week, following this checklist will help you stay on task and complete your spring cleaning in no time.

Spring Cleaning Checklist

Living Room and Family Room

  • Remove all curtains, throw pillows, and covers and wash them or have them professionally cleaned.
  • Dust all surfaces
  • Clean baseboards
  • Clean interior of windows
  • Vacuum all furniture
  • Vacuum floors

Kitchen

  • Completely clear off all counters
  • Wash and sanitize all countertops and backsplash
  • Scrub cabinet exterior
  • Remove all items from the refrigerator
  • Clean inside of the fridge
  • Scrub and disinfect the sink
  • Wipe down and sanitize microwave
  • Clean all stainless steel appliances
  • Remove all rugs and mats and have them washed or professionally cleaned
  • Clean baseboards
  • Sweep and mop floors
  • Wipe down walls
  • Clean interior of windows

Bedrooms

  • Remove and wash all bed linens and curtains
  • Wash pillows or have feather pillows professionally sanitized
  • Dust and clean any ceiling fans or light fixtures
  • Vacuum mattress and flip
  • Dust all furniture surfaces
  • Clean baseboards
  • Clean interior of windows

Extra touchups

  • Touch up paint on walls
  • Spackle any holes
  • Spot clean carpets
  • Clean out storage areas
  • Check and clean air filters
  • Clean window tracks
  • Have outside windows cleaned
