STEP ONE: Choose a color scheme. For our table we chose gold.
STEP TWO: Decide on a centerpiece. You can use flowers, candles or other beautiful objects to fit the theme. We chose to forgo the flowers and opted for candles and urns.
STEP THREE: Decorate the table. First cover the table with the proper sized tablecloth, then lay out the place mats or chargers. We choose to use table runners as place mats. Then fold the napkins.
STEP FOUR: Set the table. It is best to start with a charger or large place mat, then arrange from there. White dishes always look good, but you can always go more colorful if that fits the theme. (Use our cheat sheet below for placement of dishes, glassware and flatware.)
And finally, keep in mind – a beautiful table is based on beautiful linens – to make sure yours always look their best you should have them professionally cleaned after each use.
